The former India captain recently spoke about how he relaxes away from the cricket field and why young people should try multiple sports early in life. According to Dhoni, balancing intense focus with proper breaks is essential.
He explained that he personally enjoys activities like riding motorcycles or playing sports such as badminton and padel to refresh his mind. These hobbies help him switch off from professional pressure and return with renewed energy. Dhoni also encouraged students to experiment with different sports while they are young, saying that trying various activities is the only way to discover natural talent and interests.
While Dhoni spoke about life beyond cricket, fans are eagerly waiting to see him back on the field in the Indian Premier League. The legendary wicketkeeper-batter will once again represent Chennai Super Kings in the 2026 season as the team aims to win a record sixth IPL title.
However, there is growing speculation that this season could mark the end of Dhoni’s IPL journey. Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan recently suggested that fans might be watching Dhoni in the iconic yellow jersey for the final time. Irfan Pathan said it is difficult to imagine CSK or even the IPL without Dhoni, adding that the veteran’s presence in the dressing room remains invaluable. Even if Dhoni does not play every match, Irfan Pathan believes his leadership and experience will continue to unite the squad.
Meanwhile, Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings, has indicated that Dhoni is expected to feature in all the matches during the upcoming season.
Another former India cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara has also shared his thoughts on Dhoni’s role in the team. Pujara believes CSK should consider promoting Dhoni higher up the batting order. In recent seasons, the veteran has usually batted at number seven or even lower, which means he often faces only a few deliveries.
Cheteshwar Pujara argued that MS Dhoni still has the ability to change the course of a match single-handedly. He went on to say that giving him more time at the crease could allow the CSK legend to make an even bigger impact for the team.
