Indian cricketer Tilak Varma recently found himself at the centre of massive social media buzz after rumours surfaced claiming that he was dating a popular actress. The speculation spread rapidly online after a playful interaction involving Tilak and fellow cricketer Suryakumar Yadav went viral, leading many fans to believe that the young batter was secretly in a relationship.
The actress later revealed to be Sreeleela has now had the rumours firmly denied by both her family and official team. After days of online chatter, Sreeleela’s mother Dr Swarnalatha publicly clarified that there is absolutely no truth to the reports linking her daughter to Tilak Varma.
According to Dr Swarnalatha, the rumours are completely baseless and imaginary. She said the family has no idea how such stories started circulating online and dismissed claims that Sreeleela and Tilak Varma had allegedly been dating for nearly a year.
The dating speculation first gained traction after a video of Suryakumar Yadav teasing Tilak Varma in a lobby started making rounds on social media. In the clip, Suryakumar jokingly hinted that Tilak was in love. Although the remark appeared harmless and playful, many social media users quickly connected it to Sreeleela, triggering widespread gossip online.
As the rumours intensified, several fan theories and unverified claims also started surfacing on the Internet. Some users alleged that Dr Swarnalatha had been spotted at a recent IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala, which further fueled speculation.
There were also claims that someone from Sreeleela’s team attended the match wearing a jersey carrying Tilak Varma’s name. Other online theories suggested that the actress and the cricketer had interacted on social media in the past before allegedly unfollowing each other after the rumours became public. However, none of these claims have been confirmed by either side.
Before Dr Swarnalatha addressed the issue, Sreeleela’s team had already released an official statement rejecting all rumours. The statement clarified that Sreeleela and Tilak Varma do not even know each other personally. According to the team, the two have never met or spoken and therefore, the dating rumours are entirely false.
Dr Swarnalatha further shared that Sreeleela is currently focused on balancing her acting career and academics. The actress is preparing for her NEET-PG examination scheduled in June while simultaneously managing a busy shooting schedule. Her mother added that Sreeleela is concentrating completely on studies and films at this stage of her life.
On the professional front, Sreeleela continues to stay busy with multiple projects. She is preparing for her Bollywood debut in an upcoming film directed by Anurag Basu opposite Kartik Aaryan. The actress also has a Tamil film lined up with Dhanush.
