A controversy from the Legends League Cricket (LLC) tournament is back in the spotlight after former India fast bowler S Sreesanth made fresh allegations against former teammate and current India men’s head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Speaking in an interview released on June 19, Sreesanth claimed that the heated exchange between the two during an LLC match in December 2023 was much more serious than previously reported. While he had earlier revealed that Gautam Gambhir allegedly called him a “fixer”, Sreesanth now says that he was also called a “Deshdrohi” (traitor) and was told, “I own you”.

The incident took place during a post-retirement legends match when Sreesanth bowled a bouncer to Gambhir. According to the former pacer, he generally avoids bowling bouncers in retirement games but decided to use one because Gautam Gambhir was playing him exceptionally well.

Recalling the moment, Sreesanth praised Gambhir’s batting abilities and said the former opener was reading his bowling comfortably. After a short-ball delivery, the interaction between the two allegedly turned hostile, leading to a verbal confrontation on the field.

Sreesanth claimed that the conversation quickly escalated from competitive banter to personal remarks. He said he was surprised by the intensity of the response and tried to understand whether something was bothering his former teammate. According to him, the exchange continued with repeated comments that he found offensive and inappropriate.

The former Indian pacer admitted that he remains shocked by the incident, especially because it involved a former teammate with whom he had shared the dressing room while representing India. The controversy has drawn additional attention because both the cricketers have also been associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) outside of cricket.

Notably, Gautam Gambhir has not publicly responded to these latest allegations.

Adding further drama to the interview, Sreesanth also revisited his challenge to another former India teammate Harbhajan Singh, inviting him to a ring fight. He then extended the same challenge to Gautam Gambhir.

In a bold and provocative statement, Sreesanth suggested that both former cricketers should settle their differences in a boxing ring. He also expressed confidence that he would have the upper hand in such a contest and joked that they would be better off focusing on cricket-related roles instead.

With fresh claims emerging almost three years after the December 2023 incident, the Sreesanth-Gambhir feud has once again become a major talking point among cricket fans, reigniting debate over one of the most talked-about clashes in the Legends League Cricket history.
