Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is set to discuss recent reports alleging that a player leaked the team’s playing XIs to a bookmaker during the 2025 IPL season. The matter is expected to come up at the franchise’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 25.
According to a cricket portal, CSK has said it has zero tolerance for corruption and will take appropriate measures if required.
The controversy began after a sting operation made allegations of match-fixing involving the five-time IPL champions during the 2025 season. In the sting, former Ranji Trophy player Rachit Bhatia allegedly told an undercover reporter posing as a bookmaker that he could get CSK’s playing XI before the official announcement through a Delhi-based player in the squad.
Rachit Bhatia allegedly claimed that he had fixed five IPL matches in 2025 by sending CSK’s playing XI to London-based bookmakers through Snapchat. He reportedly said he was paid Rs 60 lakh for each match, taking the alleged total to Rs 3 crore.
He also allegedly claimed that he could arrange advance access to CSK’s playing XI for the 2026 season if his contact was selected in the auction. However, he later said the plan could not go ahead because the player suffered an injury.
The report did not identify the CSK player allegedly involved and none of Rachit Bhatia’s claims concerning CSK have been independently verified.
The sting operation also included separate allegations involving the Delhi Premier League. Rachit Bhatia allegedly offered to fix matches and claimed that the same player could potentially engage in spot-fixing by deliberately batting slowly or getting run out when required.
After the allegations gained attention on social media, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) said the reports were unverified. However, the association confirmed that one of its players, Vansh Bedi, had reported being approached with a corrupt offer and that the matter had been reported to the BCCI.
Vansh Bedi had also been part of CSK in 2025. He was ruled out midway through the season because of an ankle injury. CSK did not retain him for 2026 and he went unsold at the auction. Although some social media users linked Vansh Bedi to the allegations because of these circumstances, he denied having any connection to the matter.
CSK has faced a corruption-related controversy in the past. The franchise was suspended for the 2016 and 2017 IPL seasons after team official Gurunath Meiyappan was found guilty of betting during the 2013 IPL season.
The latest allegations remain unverified, with the CSK AGM on September 25 expected to provide further clarity on how the franchise plans to address the matter.
