Artificial intelligence is becoming a growing concern for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan who has now spoken out against the misuse of AI to create fake videos and cloned voices of public figures. During the latest episode of Bigg Boss 20 Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman Khan addressed the issue of AI-generated deepfakes and called for strict action against people who deliberately create and circulate such content. This comes just a week after he spoke about online trolling and body shaming.
Salman Khan revealed that he has himself been featured in AI-generated videos circulating online. He pointed out that while some people may unknowingly believe such videos are genuine, the people who create them know that the content is fake.
The actor questioned the intentions of those who use AI to clone someone’s voice or manipulate their appearance to make it seem as if they said or did something they never actually did. He said that such creators should face serious legal consequences and even be sent to prison.
Salman Khan explained that AI can be misused to take someone’s voice, create a fake recording and make it appear as though the person is abusing or speaking against someone. He added that several public figures, including he himself, have been featured in such AI-generated videos.
According to Salman Khan, people who do not realise that a video is AI-generated may share it believing that it is real. However, he stressed that those who knowingly create such fabricated videos are aware of what they are doing. He argued that strict punishment is necessary to discourage the practice and said that unless some offenders are actually sent to jail, the problem is unlikely to stop.
Salman Khan also called for stronger regulation of social media platforms and said that there needs to be greater control over the spread of AI-generated content online. He added that he intends to take the issue up seriously.
The actor’s comments come after he took legal action in December 2025 over the unauthorised use of his image, voice and likeness in AI-generated content.
