Amitabh Bachchan recently had to change his usual routine on the set of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 after suffering a knee injury during the shoot. During Wednesday’s episode, the Bollywood superstar was seen sitting on his seat while delivering his opening monologue. Normally, Amitabh Bachchan gives his iconic introduction while standing in the centre of the KBC stage.
Explaining the reason for the change, Big B revealed that he had slipped and fallen during the previous day’s shoot, resulting in an injury to his knee. Because of the injury, he was finding it slightly difficult to stand for a long time. However, the actor assured viewers that the injury was not serious and that he expected to recover soon. While Amitabh Bachchan continues to host KBC 18, he recently found himself at the centre of retirement rumours.
The speculation began after the actor wrote about it being time to “retire” in one of his blog posts. The statement led to questions about whether the veteran actor was planning to step away from films. Amitabh Bachchan later clarified that he was not talking about retiring from his career. He explained that he had simply meant that it was late and he was going to bed.
The actor also reacted to a newspaper report that interpreted his words as an announcement of retirement. In a humorous response, he pointed out that the media had taken the phrase differently from what he intended. Amitabh Bachchan made it clear that he has no plans to retire from work. He explained that, in the context of his blog, “retire” simply meant going to sleep because it was late, and jokingly added that people should not expect an invitation to join him there.
So, while Amitabh Bachchan is currently dealing with a knee injury that temporarily forced him to sit during his KBC introduction, the 83-year superstar has also made it clear that his retirement from acting is not what his earlier blog post meant.
Get well soon, Big B.
