The Pakistani cricket team is currently hosting Bangladesh and both the nations will play a 2-match test series, the first test match is currently being played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
On Day 2 of the first test against Bangladesh, Mohammad Rizwan delivered a masterclass in resilience and skill, steering Pakistan to a formidable first-innings total. With the team reeling at 16-3, Rizwan’s unbeaten 171 off 239 balls became the cornerstone of Pakistan’s revival. His innings not only stabilized the innings but also laid the foundation for the team’s eventual declaration at 448/6, under the captaincy of Shan Masood.
This knock, marking Rizwan’s third century in Test cricket, was a testament to his ability to perform under pressure. Partnering with Saud Shakeel, who also played a crucial role with a stunning 141, Rizwan turned the tide in Pakistan’s favor. Their 240-run partnership transformed what could have been a disastrous start into a dominant position for Pakistan.
As Rizwan concluded his incredible innings, a touching moment unfolded between him and Babar Azam. Rizwan, in a playful gesture, tossed his bat towards Babar as he made his way back to the dressing room. Babar, with a smile, caught the bat, and the two shared a lighthearted moment that quickly became a viral sensation on social media. The entire Pakistan team gathered at the boundary, applauded Rizwan’s heroic effort and enjoyed the camaraderie between the two players.

The Pakistan innings saw further contributions after Shakeel’s dismissal with Rizwan continuing to add valuable runs alongside Agha Salman, who chipped in with 19. When Salman fell, the instructions from the dressing room seemed clear—accelerate the scoring. Shaheen Afridi, taking this directive to heart, smashed 29 off just 24 balls, including a four and two sixes, before Masood called for the declaration.
The decision to declare with Rizwan unbeaten on 171 sparked some debate, with many fans on social media questioning why the captain didn’t allow Rizwan to chase a well-deserved double century. However, Saud Shakeel later clarified in the post-day press conference that Rizwan had been informed of the declaration plans an hour before it was executed, indicating a well-considered team strategy.
Rizwan’s innings, filled with grit and determination, not only anchored Pakistan’s innings but also underscored his status as one of the team’s most reliable and dynamic players.
By the end of the day 3, Bangladesh was standing firm at the total of 316/5 as its batters gave a good fight against the Pakistani bowling attack and now Pakistan is leading by 132 runs in the first innings.
