CBFC Will Allow Release Of Modi Ka Gaon But Only If This Condition Is Fulfilled!

After Toilet Ek Prem Katha, another feature film based on Modi’s life “Modi ka Gaon” , which revolves around his dream of transforming India, was all set to hit the screens on 10th of February, but it seems it is in a deep mess due to CBFC. Yes, once again the Censor Board created problems for the release of the movie and set new terms for it to proceed.

According to the Board, the movie can be released only if makers manage to get an NOC from the PMO. Yes, permission from PMO is needed because Modi’s name is used in it.

Pahlaj Nihalani, the chief of CBFC stated

“Whenever the name of celebrity, leader or a known figure is used, we ask for a NOC from the makers. That’s a rule. If Bachchan’s, CM’s or PM’s name is used in the film, we demand an NOC.”

The CBFC note read, “Submit NOC from PMO regarding PM`s portrayal/references through a character in the film resembles… (The film portrays development plans, references to Pakistan’s Uri attack, news and speeches related to the PM)”

Nihalani stated that the makers had not sought permission for shooting the footage in the movie; as of now, many things have already been shot. This is not it; the Censor Board has also asked them to replace or delete the name “Pappu”, who is the local leader in the movie.

Suresh Jha, the director of the movie says that Pappu Bihari essays the character of a local leader who is against the policies of the government and for his irrelevant statements.

Jha says

“They (CBFC) probably apprehended that ‘Pappu’ might be linked to a prominent Congress leader. However, in Bihar, ‘Pappu’ is a very common name, so I am mystified why the Censor Board is opposed to it.”

Some reports also suggest that CBFC has a problem with Modi’s look alike essaying his character. Modi Ka Gaon basically represents honest working of PM Modi and his dream of Digital India; a special screening is also being arranged for officials of PMO.

Suresh Jha stated

“The film is about Modi`s development agenda and his vision for transforming the country… How can I possibly portray all this with somebody who does not resemble him. If film-makers have to get clearances from other bodies, then what is the need for CBFC?”

Let’s see what happens; we are eagerly waiting for the decision by CBFC; what’s your take on this? Do share your views in our comments section below.
