Guy Throws His Facebook Friend Off The Balcony For Rejecting His Marriage Proposal

This 24-year-old woman never thought how costly it would prove to turn down the marriage proposal of her Facebook friend. On Monday evening, the rejected guy and some of his family members allegedly charged into her house, the guy asked the girl to either marry him or pay him Rs 1 Lakh. When the girl refused his demands, the guy pushed the woman off the balcony of her second-floor residence in outer Delhi’s Avantika Enclave.

The woman sustained multiple fractures and is in the critical condition, admitted in the Bhim Rao Ambedkar Hospital. Police have taken Amit, the accused, into custody. They have filed a case of attempt to murder against Amit.

The woman’s younger brother spoke on how his sister and Amit met, what circumstances led to this incident, he said,

“My sister befriended Amit on Facebook two years ago. After a few weeks of friendship, Amit proposed marriage to her, but since she could not take a decision on her own, she shared this with the family.”

The woman’s younger brother, a Class XII student, told why his family turned down Amit’s proposal.

“The family did not flatly turn down the man’s proposal. We first carried out a background check. When we found that he was an unemployed, habitual drinker, my sister, on our advice, asked Amit to stop pestering her. This is what the man could not digest.”

The woman, who worked as a beautician, told her family how even after the break-up the guy continued to stalk her. The brother revealed how the guy threatened his sister, he said,

“Around two months ago, she told us that Amit had asked her to either marry him or pay him Rs 1 lakh. If she didn’t, he warned her, she should be ready to face the consequences.”

On Monday, around 3.30 pm, Amit called her and asked her to meet him one last time. Around 6.15pm Amit reached the woman’s house with two of his sisters and his nephew. The brother narrated the whole encounter,

“While my mother was talking to four of them, she sent my sister to bring them some water. Amit and one of his sisters followed her into the kitchen. They had an argument and the two of them suddenly threw her off the balcony and all four then fled from the house.”

Vikramjit Singh, DCP, said that a case of attempt to murder had been registered against Amit. They have collected all the evidences from the spot, the neighbors and potential witnesses are being questioned to figure out what exactly happened.
