The King Khan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan turned 50 today and he obliged his twitter fans by giving answers to their questions. He expressed his opinion on the communal events taking place in the country, which is termed as ‘growing intolerance’, accepting that there was widespread intolerance in the Indian society now.

While answering a question in twitter townhall where Rajdeep Sardesai of India Today was also present, Shah Rukh said that in India, the biggest mistake a patriot can make is going against secularism.

When he was asked whether he will also return his awards like the writers, scientists are doing, Shah Rukh gave answer in affirmative with a symbolic gesture.

He said, “Yes, as a symbolic gesture I would give it up… I do think there is intolerance. There is extreme intolerance.”

The Superstar talked about his life in India as a Muslim, he also talked about the past situations when he was compelled to give explanation when his remarks led to controversies. He said, “No one can question my patriotism. How dare anyone?”

He further added, “People put words into the air even before thinking and here is a secular country. Here is a country perhaps for the last 10 years that is on the cusp of going beyond what we think.”
