Getting a passport was considered a hectic process as it included many formalities like verification from police but now this process will get speed up and getting first passport will be easier and less time-consuming now.
1. If you submit application with copies of Aadhar, Voter ID and PAN Card with an affidavit of no criminal case, we will issue the Passport.

The External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj made an announcement through Twitter that if an application for passport is submitted with all the needed documents and an affidavit pledging no criminal record, the issuance of passport will be done first and police verification will be done later.
The External Affairs minister also maintained that a person can choose any date which is the earliest one from the five dates available. The process of police verification has also been simplified through the “mPassport Police App”.

The good thing with this new procedure is that it will not only make the process of obtaining passport easier but it will also make it less time-consuming, limiting it to 21 days.
