A docu-series on the lives of famous Bollywood writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar has released on a digital platform and the series deals with not just their professional but personal aspects of life as well.
In the series, Javed Akhtar also talked about his failed marriage with Honey Irani and he didn’t hesitate in accepting that he was the one who made more mistakes in the marriage. He said that if there is any person towards whom he feels guilty, it is his ex-wife Honey Irani and things would have been quite different if he had better understanding of life just like he has in the present times.
Javed Akhtar said that he is 60-70 percent responsible for the failure of his first marriage, adding that it is tough to accept but that’s how it is. Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani met during the shooting of 1972 released “Seeta aur Geeta” which starred Hema Malini in double roles and Honey Irani played the role of Hema Malini’s sister. The movie also starred Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar in important roles and it was a big hit at the box-office.
Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani got married in 1972 and became parents to two kids – Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar. However, they both got divorced in 1985 and soon after the divorce, Javed Akhtar got married to actress Shabana Azmi. In the same series, Farhan Akhtar also stated that there was a phase in which he was angry with his father as he felt that his father betrayed him.
Zoya Akhtar said that after the divorce of their parents, they lived with their mother and spent more time with her. She said that it took them some time to get normal with their father, adding that Shabana played a good role in making things normal between them and their father.
Shabana also praised Honey for not filling the minds of the children with ill-thoughts against Javed Akhtar and her (Shabana). The senior actress further said that in a triangular relationship like they have, it is more painful if the kids are involved.
