Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer “Kalank” was undoubtedly one of the most awaited movies of the year and fans had eagerly been waiting for it to hit the theatres in view of the fact that it seemed to have all the ingredients of a super masala blockbuster. Directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar, the flick also stars Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha in prominent roles.
Talking about its first day collections, “Kalank” opened with a bang and has earned Rs 21.60 crore on Wednesday which makes it the biggest opener of 2019.

“Kalank” is set in the pre-independence era of 1940s and the music was already being liked by the movie buffs. The flick was supposed to made few years ago with Karan Johar as the director and his father Yash Johar being the producer but after the sudden departure of KJo’s father, the project was put on hold.
The movie got mixed reviews but the opening on the box-office is huge and the holiday of Mahavir Jayanti might also have contributed to it. If the trend continues like this, “Kalank” will go on to become one of highest grossers of the year.
