Kohli’s Mouth-Shutting Reply On Journo’s Question About His Form As An Opener Is Mind-Blowing

Virat Kohli is doing one of the toughest jobs of India as he is the captain of Indian cricket team who is always under the radar of journalists and critics with regard to his performance.

He opened during the IPL matches and scored four centuries in the tournament because of which he was termed as a big revelation. However, when he opened in the series against England, he was not able to play well and could score just 52 runs in three matches. This brought him under the scrutiny of mediapersons and he was asked about his failure as an opener in the series. The answer which Virat gave not only shut the mouth of reporters but also showed the level of wit and class Kohli has!

Here’s what he said,

“Maine IPL mein batting ki thi as an opener. Char hundred banaye the. Tab kisi ne kuch nahi bola. Ab match mein run nahi banaye to problem ho gayi.”

This press conference took place after the final T20 international match of India which was played against England in Bengaluru.

Virat further added,

“That time people were saying ‘oh! such a revelation.’ Now I don’t score in two innings. Focus on others as well. There are 10 other players in the team. If I do everything so what will the others do.”

He praised the other players of the team, like Dhoni, Raina for their brilliant fifties and Yuzvender Chahal for taking six wickets. In his words,

“I am more happy about that (series) and not worried about my opening slot. If I had made 70 runs in two matches, would you have asked me this question. No, right? So just enjoy the series. It is a nice win for us.”

India performed great against England in all the modes of cricket, as they won the test series by 4-0, ODI series by 2-1 and T20I series by 2-1.
