Marketing is an important part of the film’s success these days. Bollywood stars start promoting their film a month or two back before the release and it’s no surprise to anybody.
However, sometimes the stars go overboard and cross all boundaries to ensure their film is a success. Kangana Ranaut allegedly did the same recently. While promoting her film Simran, she went all out and spoke openly about her reported affair with Hrithik Roshan.
While the film was still a Flop, the controversy helped it generate a good pre-release buzz. For some days, people were talking about Kangana and Simran only.
There was one more film that released along with Simran and it was Farhan Akhtar starrer Lucknow Central. While that film was also a Flop and released without proper buzz, the makers chose to not get involved in any kind of dirty marketing.
And now, while attending a film festival in Mumbai, Lucknow Central producer, Nikkhil Advani admitted something that may leave you surprised. He said that the marketing team of film wanted Farhan to create a scandal just like Kangana. Here’s what he said-
“I got a call from the marketing person saying, ‘Kangana’s scandal is going on, tell Farhan to do a scandal.’ This is an actual conversation! Farhan has to have a scandal otherwise our buzz won’t go up. I said ‘but what scandal?’ and they were like ‘do any scandal but we need it.”
He further adds-
“I don’t understand it at all. How can I approach Farhan and say ‘hey let’s do a scandal, otherwise no one will watch our film.”
Well Mr Advani, your film might have Flopped at Box Office but you and Farhan have surely earned our respect. We wish the next film of yours proves to be a Hit.
