Standing out is something many young people try to do, whether through fashion, hairstyles or online profiles. However, one teenager from Glastonbury, England, took individuality to a completely different level by legally changing his name to something extraordinary.
Born George Garratt, the 19-year-old music student officially changed his name through a legally recognised deed poll service in the UK. His new legal name became Captain Fantastic Faster Than Superman Spiderman Batman Wolverine The Hulk And The Flash Combined.
The unusual decision quickly attracted public attention. Reports suggest the idea originally started as a joke. He chose a superhero theme and continued adding more names as friends came up with suggestions. What began as a humorous idea eventually became his official identity.
The student later explained that he wanted a name that would be unique and unforgettable. Judging by the reaction from people online and in the media, he achieved exactly that.
Because the full name is so long, friends reportedly shortened it to simply “Captain”, making everyday introductions much easier. According to reports, his family was not particularly surprised by the move, as they were already familiar with his playful and unconventional sense of humour. While many people initially considered the idea ridiculous, he enjoyed the attention and conversations it created wherever he went.
The name combines several famous superheroes from both Marvel and DC Comics, including Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, Wolverine, The Hulk and The Flash. The unusual combination even sparked debates among comic-book fans, with some discussing whether the combined powers of all those heroes would actually make someone faster than The Flash alone.
A spokesperson from The Legal Deed Poll Service reportedly said the organisation often receives strange name-change requests but this one immediately stood out because of its extreme nature.
Even years later, the story continues to circulate online as one of Britain’s most unusual celebrity-style name changes. While some people viewed it as a joke, others admired the confidence and creativity behind it. Long before personal branding became a social media trend, Captain Fantastic had already found a memorable way to stand out.
