While this was CSK’s first defeat in this season, it was the first win for DC in the IPL 2024 and what made it special was the fact that we got the glimpse of old Rishabh Pant in this match. Rishabh Pant has made a comeback on the cricket ground in this IPL after a long break as he suffered serious injuries in a car accident.

Both the wicketkeeper-batters (Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni) entertained the crowd and after the match, they hugged each other. It’s no secret that Rishabh Pant has a lot of respect for MS Dhoni and the moment when they embraced each other was touted as a guru-disciple moment by a sports network.

The official X handle of that sports network tweeted, “Guru Disciple On a night where both @RishabhPant17 and @MSDhoni left us awestruck, how could it not be a #SuperSunday!”

As far as the match is concerned, it was played at Dr. Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam and after winning the toss, DC chose to bat first. DC posted a total of 191/6 with the help of some brilliant knocks of Prithvi Shaw (43 runs), David Warner (52 runs) and Rishabh Pant (51 runs).

In response, most of the CSK batters were not able to counter the disciplined bowling of the DC bowlers, though Ajinkya Rahane (45 runs) and Daryl Mitchell (34 runs) made useful contributions. Undeniably, CSK lost the match by 20 runs but the fans were still happy as they saw MS Dhoni batting aggressively and scoring 37 runs in just 16 balls and his innings included 4 fours and 3 sixes.

Will CSK be able to defend their title? What do you think?
