The Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is certainly one of the best pacers of all times and some former cricketers even went on to call him the best pacer at the present time.
Jasprit Bumrah recently scripted history by becoming the first Indian fast bowler to attain the number one spot in the ICC Test Rankings and the fourth Indian bowler (the other three are – Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja & Bishan Singh Bedi) who became the world’s number one test bowler.
Bumrah is the vice-captain of the Indian test team and he played an important role in India’s win in the second test match which was played at Vizag as he dismissed 9 England batters (6 in the first innings & 3 in the second innings) in the match.
The pacer is an integral part of the IPL team Mumbai Indians for many years now and MI retained him at a price of Rs. 12 crores ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions. Though Jasprit Bumrah is being paid a hefty amount of Rs. 12 crores yet there are three other players in MI who will be paid more than Bumrah.
Here are those three players:
1. Rohit Sharma:
The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma led MI for a decade and he is the most successful skipper of the IPL jointly with MS Dhoni as they both have won the IPL titles five times. Rohit Sharma will be the highest paid player of MI as he was retained by the franchise at the price of Rs. 16 crores ahead of the IPL 2022 auctions.
However, Hitman has been removed from the post of the captain by the franchise for the upcoming IPL 2024 as they have appointed Hardik Pandya as the new skipper of the team. This decision of the franchise hasn’t gone well with the majority of the MI fans and they have left no stone unturned in slamming the franchise on social media platforms.
2. Ishan Kishan:
The young wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan will be the second highest paid player of MI in the IPL 2024 as he will be paid Rs. 15.25 crores. Though he wasn’t retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions yet during the auctions, they went berserk for the young cricketer and spent a whopping amount of Rs. 15.25 crores on him.
However, Ishan Kishan is currently out of the Indian team as he himself demanded a break from the team management in order to recover from mental fatigue.
3. Hardik Pandya:
Hardik Pandya is certainly one of the finest all-rounders of the present times but his fitness has been a matter of concern as he keeps getting injured on a regular basis. Hardik was not retained by MI as he was appointed as the skipper of the new IPL team Gujarat Titans and he led the team successfully for two seasons.
Hardik Pandya proved himself a good skipper by making his team win the IPL in its debut season and in the next season, he took his team to the finals but lost it to MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings.
In a shocking turn of events, some time back, MI traded Hardik Pandya from GT and he will be paid the same amount of Rs. 15 crore at which he was purchased by GT in the pre-auction draft. Hardik Pandya has been appointed as the new skipper of MI by the management and though he has played for MI for many years, this will be the first time that he will lead the team.
Jasprit Bumrah may be getting paid less than these three players but his performance will play a very important role if MI has to win the IPL as he will be leading the pace attack of the Mumbai franchise.
