Indian actors Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha have worked together in quite a few movies and they will always be counted among the hit pairs of Bollywood.
In fact, it is also being said that they both had an affair and a lot has been said and published in this regard but in an old interview, Rekha made it clear that though she loved Amitabh as the whole world loves him, there was never any personal connection between both of them.
Released in 1981, “Silsila” is one such movie in which Amitabh and Rekha have worked together. The film was directed by Yash Chopra and it also starred Jaya Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, etc. in important roles.
Though the movie was a flop at the box-office yet in the present times, it has attained classic status. Recently, the actor Ranjeet who is famous for playing negative characters in Hindi movies gave an interview in which he revealed that Parveen Babi was supposed to work in “Silsila” but she was asked to leave at the last moment.
Ranjeet said that Parveen Babi was his good friend but she was all alone. He added that she was a beautiful woman who always used to smile and he used to call Parveen ‘fawada’ because of her teeth. Ranjeet said that once they were in Kashmir and Parveen was so upset that she was crying.
Ranjeet asked Parveen what happened, he further added that he doesn’t mind quoting it because it is a fact that a movie “Silsila” was being made and Parveen Babi was the original heroine but she was asked to leave at the last moment. Ranjeet said that because of a gimmick controversy, Jaya Bachchan and Rekha were signed for the film otherwise it was supposed to be Parveen Babi and Rekha.
