The Indian cricket team defeated New Zealand by 70 runs in the first semi-final of the tournament and Shreyas Iyer along with Virat Kohli played century knocks. While Virat Kohli scored 117 runs, Shreyas Iyer played a blistering knock of 107 runs for which he faced only 70 balls and his innings included 4 fours & 8 sixes.

Shreyas Iyer smashed the fastest century (67 balls) in the World Cup semi-final and it is also the third fastest by an Indian batter. While the local boy Shreyas Iyer got standing ovation from the local crowd, a funny incident also took place as the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was seen imitating Shreyas Iyer’s celebration style in the dressing room which left Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav in splits.
