Sarfaraz Khan is certainly one of the most talented young cricketers of the present times. He has a brilliant record in First Class cricket with 3912 runs in 45 matches with the average of 69 and has 14 centuries and 11 fifties in his name.

There is no denying the fact that with his blistering batting performances in the domestic circuits, Sarfaraz Khan was knocking the doors of the selection committee in a pretty hard manner for a long time now and nobody has a satisfying answer to the question as to why he was not selected earlier.

In fact, many former Indian cricketers also lost their cool at the selectors for not giving a chance to Sarfaraz Khan but the selectors always chose other players and made Sarfaraz Khan wait.

However, the good thing was that finally today his wait for getting the national cap came to an end and he got his test cap from the legendary former Indian spinner Anil Kumble.

That was certainly an emotional moment for Sarfaraz and his family members, especially for his father who was present at the stadium at that time and he saw the cap ceremony from close quarters.

After Sarfaraz Khan got his test cap, he went to meet his father who took the test cap in his hands, kissed the cap and the tears of happiness were continuously flowing from his eyes.

As far as the match is concerned, Sarfaraz Khan proved his worth by hitting a half-century (62 runs, 66 balls, 9 fours & 1 six) in his debut test match. He would have created more troubles for England bowlers if he had not got run-out by Mark Wood.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (131 runs, 196 balls, 14 fours & 3 sixes) played a brilliant knock and stabilized the innings with Ravindra Jadeja (110 runs not out, 212 balls, 9 fours & 2 sixes) after India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (10 runs), Shubman Gill (0) and Rajat Patidar (5 runs) in quick succession.
