She has made her digital debut with web series Aarya which is being streamed on Disney+Hotstar. In this series, she is playing the character of Aarya Sareen whose hubby gets shot. After his departure, she came to know that her husband used to be a part of a drug racket and then drug mafia starts troubling her and her kids.

Sushmita took break from Bollywood in order to take care of health and she also wanted to focus on upbringing of her daughters. She was diagnosed with a disease known as Addison’s disease which is also called adrenal insufficiency in the year 2014 and this made it more important for her to focus on her well-being rather than acting.

Other than undergoing treatment, she meditated and got trained in Nunchaku, a martial art for improving her health. Talking about that phase, she says that everyone has seen dreams and wants to fulfill them but the most important thing is to remain alive.

The sudden and shocking departure of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has once again started the never-ending debate on nepotism and when Sushmita was asked to comment on it, she said that contest between the outsiders and insiders is not a new one but she feels that the game should be played fairly. As per her, nepotism has been there in Bollywood since the industry has existed; it is just that with the advent of social media, the awareness about it has increased to a great extent.

In fact, in wake of so much of debate on nepotism, Sushmita asks whether it is something that we have realized just now.
