The life of a girl is pretty tough one irrespective of the religion she belongs to because every religion has some rules/cultural practices which are used to suppress the female community. Through this video, we want to bring in your notice a cultural practice which is prevalent in some religions and it is being practiced on the pretext of keeping a girl pure and virgin.
We are talking about female genital mutilation (FGM) which is practiced not just in India but in some other countries as well. FGM is usually performed on the girls who are 6-7 yrs old and it is a process in which the clitoral hood is totally or partially removed and it is done to suppress a girl’s s*xuality or for protecting her chastity.
The video shows story of a young girl Erum who is a free-spirited girl who dreams of winning a dance competition, taking the medical exam and building her career. Her mother has protected her and saved her from this practice despite the fact that Erum’s grandmother is a midwife who performs this process on young girls.
However, now Erum’s grandmother Shagufta and father Ali are adamant to marry her off to a London based banker, proposed by their close acquaintance Maulana with a condition. A condition that shrieks for the pain and humiliation of generations, Erum has to be ‘pure’ (should have undergone FGM).
Now the big question is whether Erum’s mother Tabassum will be able to save her this time as well or not.
You just can’t miss the video presented by KARA Studios in which Barkha Sengupta and Helly Shah have given a soul-stirring performance as the mother-daughter duo.

Many countries have now banned FGM but it is not banned in India and is still practiced by some sects despite the fact that it has an adverse effect on both physical health and mental health.
