Yakub Abdul Razzak Memon is the only convict of the 1993 Mumbai Bomb Blast case, who will be hanged till death on July 30, 2015. Ironically, July 30 is Yakub Memon’s birth date also; presently Yakub is 52 years old. He is a Chartered Accountant by profession and there was a time when he was named as the best chartered accountant of Memon society.

1. Abdul Razzak Memon has six sons and Yakub was one of them, Yakub is the most qualified and highly educated among his siblings. He completed his schooling from a well known English Medium School, did his Bachelors in Commerce and after that in 1990 he became a Chartered Accountant.
2. He set up his CA firm in 1991, in partnership with his childhood friend Chetan Mehta, named it as “Mehta & Memon Associates”. Just after a year, he set up his own independent firm “AR & Sons”, as the name suggests it was to commemorate his father. Once he also won “Best Chartered Accountant of the Year” award.
3. Tiger Memon, the prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai Bomb Blast Case is the elder brother of Yakub Memon and it is said that Tiger’s financial activities for illegal functions were handled by Yakub’s CA firm. Tiger is still out of the reach of the Indian Law.
4. Yakub completed his MA (English Literature) and Political Science through correspondence from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), while he was in custody in Central jail, Nagpur.
5. Yakub Memon arranged 21.90 lakhs for the Mumbai Bomb Blast through his sources and contacts, as his role was to provide funding for the blast.
6. The vehicles used for planting bombs were in name of Yakub, he was also providing logistic support for the blast.
7. How did he returned to India is a little confusing question, as he claims to be arrested in Kathmandu, Nepal in 1994 while CBI maintains that they arrested him in 1994 from New Delhi Railway Station.
8. All the arrangements to send 15 youngsters to Pakistan for getting trained in arms and ammunitions were made by Yakub Memon.
9. Yakub has been sentenced to hang till death under the Indian Penal Code and not under TADA.
