However, exceptions are always there and today, we are going to tell you about 10 star-wives who chose to make it big on their own rather than seeking a luxurious life on husbands’ bank balance. They chased their passion and became successful entrepreneurs.
1. Gauri Khan
Gauri Khan is one of the most talked about star-wives who often grabs attention of media and fans of SRK. A devoted wife and loving mother of 3, she is no less than an inspiration for many women. In spite of being blessed with a dreamy lifestyle, she preferred to work hard and make her own name. The talented woman is Red Chillies Entertainment’s co-founder and a successful film producer. With The Design Cell, she entered the field of interior designing and subsequently, launched her own line of furniture in collaboration with Sussanne Khan.
2. Twinkle Khanna
Daughter of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia and wife of Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna is at the peak of success at present. Apart from being a loving wife and caring mother of 2, she’s a renowned writer and her books have earned accolades worldwide. She stepped into interior designing with Gurlein Manchanda and founded The White Window. She is a film producer and has showcased her skills as a blogger too.
3. Sussanne Khan
Sussanne Khan is actor Hrithik Roshan’s estranged wife and as far as interior designing is concerned, she has an Associate Art Degree in it from California’s Brooks College. If you love the interiors of homes of Priyanka Chopra and Rani Mukerji, it’s Sussanne behind them. What’s more, she has her own design store named The Charcoal Project.
4. Shilpa Shetty
Besides being a renowned actress, Shilpa Shetty is also a film producer and runs a chain of luxury wellness IOSIS. Her fitness DVDs are available in the market and she is also the co-owner of Rajasthan Royals, an IPL team. Aside from this all, she has also entered the jewellery business.
5. Mana Shetty
She is the source of immense motivation and if she doesn’t inspire you, nothing can. She’s a social activist, businesswoman, designer as well as housewife. She’s the owner of R-House, a lifestyle store for gifts and decor items. She also commenced a real estate venture with the name of S2. Under this project, 21 luxurious villas had been constructed. Apart from this, her clothing brand “Mana and Isha” is running successfully. Mana is also running an NGO named “Save the Children India” too. Once she organised an exhibition with the name of “Araaish” and donated its earnings for helping underprivileged women.

“I have an identity of my own. At least I think so and I believe in it. That’s why I keep doing a lot of things on my own. Yes, I do have Suniel 100 percent behind me, but I think it does make a lot of difference when you do something on your own and you’re not just a celebrity’s wife.”
6. Adhuna Bhabani
The former wife of Farhan Akhtar, Adhuna is a celebrity hairstylist who founded BBLUNT, the country’s leading hair styling salon chain. In India, she has opened 17 well-known salons and is planning to expand her business in Dubai.
7. Kiran Rao Khan
The wife of Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist is a screenwriter, director and producer. She made her debut with “Dhobi Ghat” which earned critical acclaim. She’s quite bold in her perception and doesn’t mince her words. In fact, she didn’t hesitate in saying that her son was conceived through surrogacy.
8. Manyata Dutt
Manyata is Sanjay Dutt Productions’ CEO and a social activist. She is quite brave and alone managed everything when Sanjay was in prison.
9. Seema Khan
Seema Khan who is the wife of actor-director Sohail Khan is a very famous fashion designer. She also co-owns a luxury concept retail boutique in Bandra along with Sussanne Khan and Maheep Kapoor. Seema was the one who designed the complete look of lead character of one of the most watched TV serials “Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin”. She is also the owner of a beauty spa and salon called Kallista, which is located in Mumbai.
10. Mehr Rampal
Mehr Jesia Rampal, wife of actor Arjun Rampal, is former Miss India and a supermodel. The couple is also proud parents of two daughters and Mehr not just manages her home but also looks after the work of their production company Chasing Ganesha.
