We live in quite sad times, where hunger and greed has overpowered the basic intellect of humans. A case of 30-year-old Mumbai based man duping widows and divorcees for money has come in front.
As per the report in Mumbai Mirror, the man named Krishna Devkate has conned at least a dozen women who were divorced or widows and were earning.
He had created fake matrimonial accounts on two websites and showed interest in marrying divorced or widowed women between 35-40 years of age.
As soon as the contact was made, he used to charm them. Once the trust gets built, he would tell them a story about his financial situation, take the money and run.
The man has been arrested by the Nalasopara police and it has come to notice that he has duped several unsuspecting women of almost Rs 25 lakh till now.
However, cops suspect the amount could be higher as they think more victims could come forward. The police started investigating into the case on the complaint of one such `to-be-bride’ who was cheated of Rs 9 lakh in less than a year.’
