The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the remaining two test matches and it is the same squad which was named for the first two test matches as the BCCI and selectors feel that there is no need of any change in the squad which has won the first two test matches against Australia.
The Indian cricketer KL Rahul has been removed from the post of the vice-captain and as per some reports, he will be replaced by Shubman Gill in the third test match. KL Rahul has been going through a lean phase for a long time now and many cricket fans have been demanding his ouster from the team but the team management is supporting him completely. Recently, the Indian head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma made it clear that they will keep on supporting KL Rahul as he is a top class player and has performed well in overseas conditions.
However, the BCCI and selectors chose not to name the new vice-captain of the team and they have handed over this responsibility to Rohit Sharma. As soon as this news went viral, Indian cricket fans started giving their opinions and majority of them are in support of Ravichandran Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja.

How about Iyer for the VC. Almost a regular now in any condition whatsoever. Although Ash deserves it more but his position remains questionable overseas against Jadeja.

If it is not Ashwin, then what is the point?

@ashwinravi99 is the most deserving one for this role he has that cricketing brain and he has both calmness and aggression

Ashwin or shreyas. On merit, it has to be Ashwin but outside India if you are playing one spinner, it's mostly jadeja. Very difficult decision.

ashwin is very intelligent and i think he is a perfect candidate for vc

@ashwinravi99 should be the vice captain for India test team. He is genius and captain meterial too

In my opinion Axar patel should be India's VC… Because he is now stable guy in this team

Pant and Bumrah were supposed to be the ones, but now Iyer is the front runner till both of them come back
— Jayesh (@Jayesh_45) February 20, 2023
Ashwin should have been the obvious choice long back….. may be the will consider Jaddu since he is India's first choice spinner in SENA condition

Only Pujji and Shami are automatic picks now regardless of overseas conditions
Jadeja unlikely to be chosen as he has had a poor captaincy stint earlier in CSK
— Preet Bhai (@Preet_Ki_Latt) February 20, 2023
It must be Ashwin. Jadeja when became captain of csk, struggled to perform. And Ashwin has been doing well and has been played about 90 tests

The third test match will be played at Holkar Stadium, Indore, from 1 March 2023 and India will certainly like to win this important test if it wants to cement its berth in the finals of the World Test Championship 2021-23. India has to win the ongoing 4-match test series (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) by 3-0 or 3-1 in order to play the WTC finals.
Who should be the next vice-captain of the Indian test team according to you? Let us know your views.
