Their sudden disappearance led to a frantic search, culminating in the couple being intercepted by Uttar Pradesh police near the Nepal border. The police said they were preparing to flee the country.
Anita Devi, however, claimed that they returned on their own after seeing what she described as objectionable news coverage. Her defiance was captured on camera when she asked reporters to stop recording, even threatening to break a mobile phone as she folded her hands in frustration.
