For both Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav, this series represents a fresh chapter. It is Surya’s first time leading India in a bilateral T20 series in Australia and Gambhir has shown full faith in his captain. He believes that SKY’s easygoing and fearless personality perfectly fits the spirit of T20 cricket. Speaking to broadcasters, Gambhir explained that the captain’s attitude off the field often mirrors his approach on it and that Surya has done an excellent job in maintaining a confident, relaxed atmosphere within the team over the past year and a half.
India has been a dominant force in T20 cricket recently, though Suryakumar Yadav’s individual form has drawn some attention. However, Gautam Gambhir has made it clear that he is not concerned. He emphasised that the team has adopted an “ultra-aggressive” playing style, one that values intent and impact over cautious play.
He explained that it would be easier for a batter to score safe runs and avoid criticism but India has collectively decided to stay committed to their attacking mindset, even if that means occasional failures. Gautam Gambhir praised young Abhishek Sharma’s consistent form from the Asia Cup and expressed confidence that once Surya finds his rhythm, he will lead by example.
