The incident occurred on Tuesday at a private school serving as an examination centre in the Pithampur area. According to police, the girl had arrived at the centre to take her Mathematics board exam like other students. However, during the exam, she began complaining of severe stomach pain.

Officials said the student requested permission and went to the washroom in the school premises. After she remained inside the toilet for nearly 15 minutes, the invigilator grew concerned and asked a female staff member to check on her condition.

According to Anita Singhar, the Chief Medical and Health Officer of the district, preliminary medical examinations revealed that the baby was born at around 34 weeks of pregnancy. She said the newborn weighed about 2 kilograms and that both the mother and the baby were stable after receiving medical care.

Police officials also spoke with the girl’s family following the incident. According to investigators, the family claimed they were completely unaware of the pregnancy and were shocked to learn about what had happened. The girl’s mother reportedly told police that they had no information about her condition before the incident.

Meanwhile, the police launched an investigation into the matter. Parul Belapurkar, the Additional Superintendent of Police in Dhar, said authorities registered a case under relevant sections, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

She explained that after receiving information about the incident at the examination centre, police and health officials immediately reached the spot and ensured that the minor and the baby were taken to the hospital. Since the case involves a minor, a zero FIR was registered under the POCSO Act and other applicable legal provisions. The case was later transferred to the Betma police station for further investigation.

Further details also emerged during preliminary questioning. Chandni Singhar, a Sub-Inspector from the Sector 1 police station, said the girl told officers that she had been in a relationship with a person for about two years. According to her statement, they had been involved in repeated physical relations over the past year, which eventually led to the pregnancy.

The unexpected childbirth during a board exam has shocked the local community and raised serious concerns, with authorities continuing their investigation into the matter.
