Mrunal Thakur has steadily made her mark in the film industry with strong performances and smart role choices. Known for picking meaningful scripts, she has built a reputation for balancing commercial and content-driven cinema. Now, with her latest release making waves, she is looking to push boundaries even further.
Her new film Dacoit, alongside Adivi Sesh, has hit theatres and is receiving positive reviews from audiences and critics alike. Amid the film’s success, Mrunal has been actively promoting it and sharing her thoughts on the kind of roles she wants to explore next.
During a recent interaction, she openly spoke about her desire to take on more complex and unconventional characters. She expressed that she is particularly interested in playing flawed individuals, as they feel more real and relatable. According to her, such roles offer depth and allow actors to explore different shades of human emotion.
She also highlighted a larger issue in the industry, the lack of diverse and authentic stories centered around women. Mrunal pointed out that while some films have made a strong impact in the past, there is still a need for more projects that break stereotypes and present women in a more realistic way. She believes that meaningful storytelling can change how female characters are written and perceived in Indian cinema.
Looking ahead, Mrunal will also be seen in the romantic comedy Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, alongside Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde. The movie, which was earlier scheduled to release on April 10, 2026, has now been postponed to June 5.
The film is being bankrolled under the banner of TIPS and stars a large cast including Mouni Roy, Rakesh Bedi, Chunkey Panday, Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Shergill, Ali Asgar, Kubbra Sait, Rohit Saraf, Rajeev Khandelwal, Nitish Nirmal and Sreeleela.
With Dacoit earning praise and exciting projects lined up, Mrunal Thakur is clearly on a path to redefine her career, one bold role at a time.
