Fame has its price, and for Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, that price seems to have been their privacy. That’s reportedly why the couple decided to leave India behind and settle into a calmer life in London with their kids. In 2025, Dr. Shriram Nene, husband of actress Madhuri Dixit, opened up about a personal conversation he had with Anushka regarding the couple’s decision to relocate.
In a podcast, Dr. Nene talked about his interactions with Virat and Anushka and had nothing but good things to say about the cricketer. He described Virat as genuinely grounded and down-to-earth, someone who handles his massive fame gracefully, adding that after meeting him several times, he came away with a lot of admiration and respect for him as a person.
He then shared a memory of a conversation with Anushka, where she opened up about why they were seriously considering shifting to London. According to Dr. Nene, their level of success meant that even ordinary personal moments couldn’t stay private, everything they did drew attention and Anushka had expressed that this made it hard to actually enjoy what they’d achieved. He noted that he understood the toll this took on them, since their fame effectively cut them off from a normal life, forcing a kind of isolation.
Given that Virat and Anushka are two of the most famous faces in the country, it’s no surprise their every public move and personal milestone has drawn massive attention over the years. Eventually, they made the shift to London with their children, a move that has allowed them to raise their daughter Vamika and son Akaay away from the intense spotlight that followed them in India.
The couple got married in a small, private ceremony in Italy back in December 2017. They welcomed Vamika in 2021, followed by their son Akaay in 2024.
While Virat has remained a dominant figure in Indian cricket, Anushka’s film career has taken a backseat, she hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2018’s Zero. She did wrap up filming for Chakda Xpress, though it’s yet to hit screens. In 2022, she also exited her production venture, Clean Slate Filmz.
