Glenn Phillips broke Phil Salt’s previous record of 331 runs, which he had scored during England’s T20I series against the West Indies in 2023-24. Glenn Phillips finished New Zealand’s home series against India with an unbeaten 65 off just 38 balls in the final match. His innings included eight fours and three sixes, taking his overall series tally to a record-breaking 341 runs.

The 29-year-old was remarkably consistent throughout the series. His lowest score was 17, which came in the third T20I, while he scored at least one half-century in every other match. His biggest contribution came in the fourth T20I, where he smashed 107 runs off just 49 deliveries.

Glenn Phillips Credits IPL Experience for Improving His Batting

Glenn Phillips has always been known as an exciting all-rounder who can produce spectacular catches and pick up important wickets. However, his batting consistency has improved significantly in recent times.

The New Zealand star recently spoke about the role the Indian Premier League (IPL) played in his development as a batter. Glenn Phillips explained that his time with Gujarat gave him access to excellent training facilities, experienced coaches and enough opportunities to work on his batting. He also highlighted his experience playing in England, where getting more time in the middle and scoring runs in both red-ball and white-ball cricket helped him improve.

He further pointed out that playing in the IPL is not just about scoring runs or earning a big contract. According to him, players can learn a lot from the environment, coaching staff and experiences they get during the tournament, even when they are not part of the playing XI.

Glenn Phillips believes that every player should make the most of the opportunities and learning experiences available to them, whether they are playing in the IPL or any other major cricket tournament. His record-breaking performance against India is a reflection of how much his batting has developed, making him one of the most exciting players to watch in international T20 cricket.

Well played, Glenn Phillips!
