Ollie Robinson’s journey back into England cricket has taken a remarkable turn, with the fast bowler receiving one of the biggest individual honours of his career. After spending more than two years away from the national team, Ollie Robinson has made an impressive comeback and has now been named England’s Cricketer of the Year.

The 32 years old cricketer received the award on Tuesday following an outstanding return to international cricket this year. He picked up 28 wickets at an impressive average of just 9.32 in Test matches against New Zealand and Pakistan.
Ollie Robinson had been out of favour with England selectors for over two years before earning another opportunity in the national team. However, he made the most of his return, delivering excellent performances in just four Tests. His impact was recognised by members at the Vitality Cricket Media Club Awards held at Lord’s. Ollie Robinson received the trophy named after former England captain Bob Willis, completing an impressive comeback story.
Speaking after receiving the award, Ollie Robinson described it as a special moment. He said that returning to the England team after such a long absence and enjoying a successful summer made the achievement even more meaningful. He also acknowledged that the journey had included several difficult moments, making the recognition particularly satisfying.
Ollie Robinson added that he had thoroughly enjoyed playing for England again and hoped to continue contributing to the team in the coming years. The fast bowler is now expected to play an important role in England’s upcoming red-ball cricket programme. The schedule includes tours of South Africa and Bangladesh, along with the 150th anniversary Test against Australia in Melbourne.
Meanwhile, Middlesex fast bowler Naavya Sharma was named Young Cricketer of the Year after an impressive breakthrough season. Naavya Sharma is currently in the West Indies as part of the England Lions squad.
Ollie Robinson’s recognition highlights how a strong comeback and consistent performances can help a player regain his place and earn major honours at the highest level.
