Not known to everyone, but Siddharth Basu is the man behind the quiz questions asked in KBC. He is one among the GK quiz masters in India, who excellence in as television producer, host and a producer Director.
1. Siddharth Basu is Chairman and Managing Director of Big Synergy Media Ltd., established in 1988 as Synergy Media Ltd., which produces shows like Dus Ka Dum and Kaun Banega Crorepati.
2. After he hosted the show “Quiz time” on the Doordarshan in 1985 he began to be widely regarded as the father of television quiz shows in India.
3. Basu was born in Kolkata, in a Bengali family and grew up in Bombay, Madras and Delhi.
4. Till the the end of his second year, he was one of the founding members of Theatre Action Group (TAG), a theater group in Delhi. Hereafter he acted in numerous plays.
5. Siddhartha acted in few television serials like “Purvai” which was telecast on Doordarshan and in the Bollywood movie named Madras Cafe.
6. After he completed a post-graduate degree in English Literature from Delhi University, Basu’s career in television began in 1977 as a documentary filmmaker and directing TV programs
7. Basu has conducted a number of live multimedia quiz contests on the corporate, college, and school circuits. Basu moved on to host and produce “Spectrum”, the 7 nation SAARC Quiz, “The India Quiz”,and “The Beanstalk Quiz Summit” (On Doordarshan), “Mastermind India”, “University Challenge” (2003) on BBC World,and “India’s Child Genius” on STAR World.
8. Besides these, Basu is also author of Encyclopedia Britannica General Knowledge Book ‘Know for Sure’ which is very popular among school students.

9. Siddhartha is married to Anita Kaul Basu, who worked as a journalist with India Today magazine from 1983–1988. In 1988 both the individual set up Synergy, a television production company.
10. He is blessed with a son, Aditya and daughter Medha.
11. Siddhartha Basu’s BIG Synergy has produced Aap Ki Kachehri – Kiran ke Saath, Sacch Ka Saamna, and Khelo Jeeto Jiyo on Star Plus, India’s Got Talent on Colors, and Dus Ka Dum with Salman Khan as host on Sony.
12. Since 2007, Synergy Communications, is in an alliance with Adlabs Films, of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, as its television division.
