It is sad to see how a judge asked a rape victim whether she tried to close her legs. Working in Spain’s Basque Country, Judge Maria Del Carmen Molina Mansilla was accused as she offensively questioned a rape victim who was describing how she was physically and sexually abused.
In response to this, Clara Camoamor Association, a campaign group for gender crime victims stated that a clear prejudice was shown by the judge towards disbelieving the victim.
Clara Camoamor Association’s Blance Estrella Ruiz stated that obvious disbelief was shown towards the victim. Offensive and leading questions were asked to the victim and she wasn’t allowed to answer.
The rape victim arrived at Vitoria’s local police station for making a complaint against a man who had allegedly abused her physically and sexually.
When a statement was made in front of Judge Mansilla, she reportedly asked her ‘Did you try closing your legs and all female organs?’.
