The former Pakistani cricketer Ramiz Raja was appointed as the PCB chairman in September 2021 by the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan but now his days in office have come to an end as recently the current PM of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif has hinted restoration of PCB’s constitution of 2014 in an interview and he also adds that departmental cricket would be revived too.

Najam Sethi resigned from post of the PCB chairman when Imran Khan’s government came into power in 2018 because of his differences with Imran Khan. Though many were of the opinion that Ramiz Raja would be removed from the post after Shehbaz Sharif became the PM of Pakistan in April 2022, Ramiz somehow managed to save his post for quite some time.

As the news of Ramiz Raja went public, netizens wasted no time in expressing their opinions on the social media platforms. While few people did not agree with the sacking of Ramiz Raja, some even shared funny jokes and memes over the development. Check out some selected reactions:

Ramiz Raja has made headlines many times because of his statements regarding India especially in relation to the change of venue of the Asia Cup 2023. The Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to be held in Pakistan but the BCCI secretary Jay Shah who also happens to be the President of the Asian Cricket Council has made it clear that team India won’t be travelling to Pakistan and the tournament should be shifted to a neutral venue.

This angered many former Pakistani cricketers including Ramiz Raja who stated that if India would not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, the Pakistani team wouldn’t travel to India for playing the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 that is going to be held in India.

Many members of PCB and people from the Pakistani cricket fraternity were unhappy with Ramiz Raja after Pakistan lost first two test matches against England and there were controversies related to the pitches as well.
