Cyber fraud continues to target celebrities and the latest victim is Bollywood actress-producer Kirti Kulhari. The actress, who was last seen in the streaming series ‘Shekhar Home’, reportedly lost Rs 2,43,852 after cyber criminals allegedly gained unauthorised access to her mobile phone and credit card.
Following her complaint, the Amboli Police Station in Mumbai registered a case against unidentified accused and launched an investigation into the incident.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Kirti Kulhari, who lives in Versova and works as an actor and film producer, was at Cinepolis near Fun Republic Mall in Andheri West when she received an alert on her phone about a $2,525 transaction made using her bank credit card for Aeromexico Airlines.
Realising that the transaction was suspicious and unauthorised, she immediately contacted her bank’s toll-free customer support. After reviewing the account, bank officials found that four separate high-value transactions had been made using her credit card without her permission. As a precaution, the bank immediately blocked the card to prevent any further misuse.
In her statement to the police, Kirti Kulhari said that she had never shared her credit card password or confidential details with anyone. Investigators suspect that her phone and card information may have been compromised through malware or spyware, although the exact method is still being examined.
The Cyber Cell is now investigating the case by tracking bank reference numbers and analysing digital footprints to identify those responsible for the fraud.
Before this incident, Kirti Kulhari had celebrated an important professional milestone by announcing the completion of filming for her first feature film as a producer.
Sharing the update on Instagram, she reflected on the journey behind the project, saying that life had taught her that everything happens at the right time and describing the experience as an emotional and meaningful milestone in her career.
