After Being Slammed For High Price, PVR Comes Up With Affordable Offers On Drinks & Snacks

However, the single screen cinema halls are getting shut down and watching a movie in PVRs is very costly, especially if you buy something to eat in the interval. Some time back, a Twitter user Tridip K Mandal shared how much he had to spend when he bought 55 gm of cheese popcorn and 60 ml of Pepsi and the amount was almost equal to the subscription of an OTT platform.

Tridip K Mandal posted the photo of the bill and tweeted, “Rs 460 for 55gm of cheese popcorn, Rs 360 for 600ml of Pepsi. Total Rs 820 at @_PVRCinemas  Noida. That’s almost equal to annual subscription of @PrimeVideoIN No wonder people don’t go to cinemas anymore. Movie watching with family has just become unaffordable.”

Mandal also posted the photo of the items which he bought in the PVR. He tweeted, “So here’s the glass (won’t even call it a tub) of cheese popcorn that cost Rs. 460. It is exorbitant. Did @_PVRCinemas force me to buy it? NO Was it a must to eat while watching the film? NO Does your 12-year-old understand, for whom movie watching is a fun time? NO”

Soon Indian Twitterati got active; they shared their own experiences in this regard and talked as to why watching movies in cinema halls is becoming impossible for many.

Now PVRs have reacted to this tweet and they have discounted the rates of food items and cold drinks for audiences. Now Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 6 pm, Burger, Samosas and Sandwich + Pepsi will be available for Rs. 99 each and from Friday to Sunday, they will offer unlimited refill on popcorns and Pepsi.

The official Twitter handle of PVR Cinemas tweeted, “We at PVR believe that every opinion matters and it must be respected. We have this update for you and for every moviegoer in India #PVRHeardYou”

Tridip K Mandal also reacted to this new offer as he tweeted, “I am glad that @_PVRCinemas took my tweet sportingly and acted on it. This is a good move; see you at the movies :)”
