On Wednesday The Union government has announced the very prestigious award Bharat Ratna. This is in honour of India’s highest civilian that will be awarded to our former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malaviya.
There was a meeting convened of the Union Cabinet on Wednesday. The decision to award this honour to Vajpayee and Malviya was done. This announcement unknowingly coincides with the birthday of Vajpayee that is on 25th December. This day is also declared as ‘Good Governance Day’.
Madan Mohan Malaviya who was a freedom fighter and an educationist is also known by the name ‘Mahamana’ will also be awarded A Bharat Ratna. This was a promise that made by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the time of election campaigns.
Till date, total 43 people have been awarded with this Bharat Ratna since its commencement. Some of them including CV Raman, Sachin Tendulkar, Lata Mangeshkar and C Rajagopalachari.
