The India-England test series is quite important considering the fact that it will decide which team will face New Zealand in the finals of the ICC World Test Championship 2019-21. England has started quite well by winning the first test match of the series by 227 runs and this is Virat Kohli’s fourth straight loss as the skipper of the team.
Virat Kohli has been on the radar of the Indian Twitterati after India lost the first test match against Australia which was played at Adelaide. In that test match, India suffered a humiliating defeat by 8 wickets and in the second innings, the Indian team got out for just 36 which is its lowest total ever. However, the fortunes of the team changed after Ajinkya Rahane took the charge as Virat came to India on paternity leave.
In the remaining three test matches, India scripted history by winning the two test matches and getting one drawn. India won the four match test series against Australia by 2-1 and after that, many started demanding that Ajinkya Rahane should be made the permanent captain of the Indian test team while Virat Kohli should play as a batsman only. These demands got suppressed after Ajinkya Rahane made it clear that he is happy being the deputy of Virat Kohli and the latter will retain the post of captain.
However after the first test match defeat against England, many cricket fans have again raised their voices and demanded that Virat Kohli should be sacked from captaincy and Ajinkya Rahane should be appointed as the new skipper.
Here are some of the selected reactions:

Bring back Rahane as captain.Else this will be a washout series.#INDvsENG #Rahane #ViratKohli

Ajinkya Rahane beat Australia in Australia with net bowlers and T20 batsmen. Virat Kohli can't beat England in India with his top bowlers and batsmen. This is getting ridiculous. Kohli's Bangalore has finished last in IPL every time. Isn't that proof he's not captaincy material.

Virat Kohli has now lost his last four Tests as captain – the most he has lost in succession (Wellington, Christchurch, Adelaide & Chennai).
In the seven Tests prior to the current streak, he had won seven in a row, the longest such sequence for an Indian captain.#INDvENG

@imVkohli : Another embarrassing defeat under your captaincy, first NZ, then Australia and now in India, if u have even an iota of self respect, renounce captaincy.@BCCI : We need Virat the bat not Virat the captain.#INDvsENG_2021 #Disappointment

Bring back Mayank and remove Kohli from captaincy and let Rahane be the captain. Then everyone will play to their full potential.

Virat Kohli is the most unluckiest captain in the history of cricket

Virat Kohli such a Impactful player. Without him It took India 3 tests in Australia to go on top and create history but he joined and put us back to be a losing side in just one test. Incredible impact.

I just want the English team to clean sweep the series..dont want to see choker kohli as captain again..this test was very important with respect to the test championship finals but India under choker @imVkohli has a history of not doing well in such situations #INDvENG

Virat’s captaincy is also targeted because he has been associated with Royal Challengers Bangalore since the inaugural edition of 2008 and since 2013, he has been leading the team but RCB hasn’t won an IPL trophy till date.
The first test match completely belonged to the England skipper Joe Root who scored a double century (218) in the first innings and 40 runs in the second innings. He was also adjudged as the player of the match for his superb performance.
Do you also think that Virat should be sacked from captaincy and Ajinkya Rahane should be appointed as the test skipper? Let us know your opinion in this connection.
