India is going to host the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in October-November and many feel that it is the best chance for India to win the World Cup and end its ICC trophy drought. India won its last ICC trophy in 2013 when it won the ICC Champions Trophy under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Since then, India has played four finals of the ICC tournaments but it has failed to win even a single title.
There are huge expectations from Indian cricketer Virat Kohli as he is in a great form nowadays and some people also feel that he will be playing his last ODI World Cup in view of the fact that he will be 35 yrs old in this World Cup. However, there are many including former West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle who believe that Virat Kohli will be playing minimum one more World Cup considering the fact that he is one of the fittest cricketers of the cricket world.
During an interview, Chris Gayle states that India is certainly a strong contender for winning the World Cup but he also adds that the players will be under more pressure to perform while playing in the country.
Chris Gayle also talks about two Indian players who will make a big impact in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and surprisingly, these two players are not Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. As per Chris Gayle, the two players who will play an important role in India’s win in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 are Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav.
Jasprit Bumrah has been out of cricketing action for quite some time now because of injury and he is under rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA). On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav is the number one T20 batter of the world but his record in ODIs is not so good and questions were raised on his inclusion in the ODI squad.
Do you agree with Chris Gayle?
