Actor Randeep Hooda has revealed that he chose not to follow a career tip from Salman Khan, despite acknowledging that it was well-intended. Interestingly, Randeep said his father had also given him similar advice but he decided to take a different path because he wanted to keep challenging himself as an actor instead of sticking to one type of role.

Speaking to a leading publication, Randeep Hooda shared that Salman Khan had advised him to avoid roles where he did not appear heroic. The superstar also suggested that maintaining a consistent image by playing similar characters could help him become a bigger star. While Randeep agreed that the advice made sense, he said he never wanted to repeat the same kind of performances throughout his career.
The actor explained that playing identical roles would eventually become monotonous and could take away the excitement he finds in acting. He preferred exploring different characters instead of building a fixed on-screen image, even if that choice meant sacrificing greater commercial success.

Randeep Hooda also said that he considers it a compliment when people tell him he cannot be easily imitated. According to him, every character he plays comes with a different style, rhythm, intonation and sometimes even a different voice. He believes this constant change is what keeps his performances fresh and prevents audiences from placing him in a single category.
While acknowledging that creating a recognisable screen persona can help actors establish themselves, Randeep Hooda said that was never his primary goal. He added that he wanted to keep evolving as a performer rather than becoming comfortable with a formula. At the same time, he admitted that no one can predict what the future holds.

Randeep Hooda has shared screen space with Salman Khan in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick (2014), Ali Abbas Zafar’s Sultan (2016), and Prabhu Deva’s Radhe (2021). While Kick and Sultan emerged as major box-office successes, Radhe failed to impress both critics and audiences.
