Hong Kong defeated all the three teams – UAE, Singapore and Kuwait in the Asia Cup 2022 qualifier and attained the top spot. Hong Kong also played in the 2018 Asia Cup and that time also, it was in the same group with India and Pakistan and this time again, it is a part of the same group (Group A).

Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The top two teams from both the groups will go to Super Four stage and then the top two teams will clash against each other in the finals which will be played on September 11.

Usually, the Asia Cup takes place in every two years but this time it is happening after four years as last time it took place in 2018 and the reason behind the gap is the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, earlier it was an ODI tournament but from 2016, it has been decided that format will be changed on alternate basis, for example, 2016 was T20 tournament, 2018 was ODI and 2022 will again be T20, etc.

This is the 15th edition of the  tournament and India who is the defending champion this year has won it 7 times, while Sri Lanka has won it 5 times and Pakistan has won it 2 times.

We know it will be tough for Hong Kong to survive for long in this tournament but our best wishes are with the team.
