A major illegal betting operation linked to IPL matches has been busted, leading to the arrest of two men and the discovery of transactions worth over Rs 8 crore. The action was taken after police received a tip-off about suspicious activities.

A team from the Sipri Bazar Police Station raided a house in Mahendrapuri Colony and arrested Anshuman (40) and Abhishek Pathak (31). According to SP City Preeti Singh, the accused were running an online betting racket from the premises, accepting bets on different aspects of IPL matches such as runs, wickets and overs.

During the raid, police recovered four mobile phones. On checking them, they found digital transactions involving coins worth more than Rs 8.05 crore. Along with this, over Rs 5,000 in cash was also seized. Authorities further froze around Rs 1.80 lakh held in nine bank accounts connected to the accused.

During questioning, both men revealed that they were working under Ravi Kushwaha, a resident of Pathoriya, who is believed to be the main mastermind behind the operation and is currently on the run.

Police have registered a case under relevant laws and are actively trying to track down and arrest the main accused. The investigation is still ongoing and more details may emerge soon.
