Amazon only seems to b expanding and recently announced the site location for its HQ2. At an event, the CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos was forced to answer the hard questions.

An employee asked him about the bigger picture, and the long term goals of the company. What Bezos said is a tad bit to0 heartbreaking. He replied saying that no company, not even Amazon, is “too big to fail.” He added,

“In fact, I predict one day Amazon will fail. Amazon will go bankrupt. If you look at large companies, their lifespans tend to be 30-plus years, not a hundred-plus years.”

Amazon has always been a customer oriented company, with its prime focus being the customers. According to Bezos, there are some things that the company could do to delay the demise. He said,

“If we start to focus on ourselves, instead of focusing on our customers, that will be the beginning of the end.”

Quite troubling, right? Amazon in the past few years has seen unprecedented success. The company has grown at a rapid rate and now has over 600,000 employees. The turnover of the company has also increased 4 times than when it started.

Bezos’ comment has us all slightly worried. What about you?
