Even if the fires were to be brought under control soon, the lingering pain and devastation in the city would overshadow any celebratory event. As a result, the organisation is considering shifting its focus to supporting relief efforts and fundraising initiatives when the time is right. The wildfires have already caused disruptions to the Academy’s plans, including a delay in the announcement of Oscars nominations. Originally set for January 17, the nominations will now be unveiled on January 19, with the voting period for nominees extended to accommodate the circumstances.
