Now just saying that in a few words seems really easy but after having watched the film, I can say one thing that you can’t imagine how big a problem of menstrual hygiene is in the rural areas. Among many important issues of our country, this is a really important one and Arunachalam Muruganantham is the real hero of this story. The man is a superhero indeed because the sacrifices he did for the cause can be done by superheroes only. A big salute to the man for the big heart, his understanding of the cause and his perseverance. But the biggest attribute of his character that made him superhero was that he didn’t stop even when his wife (for whom he did everything) left him. That’s what makes you really respect the man and salute his intentions.

Screenplay

As I explained that the film is a real-life story of a man who went on to invent low-cost sanitary pads making machine. The guy appears to be a social entrepreneur in the film which he indeed is but here I want to mention one thing that you may miss while watching the film.

Apart from being the story of a social entrepreneur, this is the story of a true lover and his feelings for his wife. The story at its heart is about the true love and is a heavily inspiring affair.

The screenplay of film is interesting and keeps you engrossed with it. The dialogues are simple yet powerful. They will really touch your heart.

The screenplay has some really powerful scenes and they will stay with you for a long time.

The only weak part of the screenplay is that it has fewer light moments. Also, the emotional scenes could’ve been more powerful.

Performances

Akshay Kumar is growing as an actor with every film and in Padman he gives his career’s best performance. The man has got into the skin of his character and gives a memorable performance. He is outstanding from start till the end.

Radhika Apte is a natural actor and impresses yet again. She has given another beautiful performance of her career and deserves high praises for it.

Sonam Kapoor is a breath of fresh air in the film. Her character is lovely and she has played it well. Amitabh Bachchan has a cameo and it adds to the charm of film. Supporting cast is also good.

Direction

R Balki has given a fab direction to the film. He is brilliant in telling what he says and the best part is that audience gets the message.

Technical Aspects and Music

The film is well shot and is technically nice. Music is apt and flows well with the story. Aaj Se Teri is the best song and gives a perfect start to the film. Lyrics of this song are another amazing factor and tells a lot about the background of story and character.

Plus Points

1. A great story
2. Some really powerful scenes, very good dialogues and overall very good screenplay
3. Strong performances

Negative Points

1. Lack of light-hearted scenes
2. The emotional scenes are not as strong as they could have been

Overall, Pad Man is an inspiring story made with a big heart. It informs you about a really important issue in a beautifully cinematic way. Go watch it with your family. Take your heart and mind along with you.
