The songs of “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na” were liked a lot by Indian music lovers and there was one track which was played in each party at that time. Yes, we are talking about “Pappu can’t dance saala” but do you know who that Pappu in the movie was?

Well, that Pappu is a very famous director of the present times and he has given some very good movies to us. We are talking about director Shakun Batra who has directed movies – “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu”, “Kapoor & Sons”, “Gehraiyaan”, etc.

Some time back, Shakun Batra gave an interview in which he revealed that he was the one who played the character of Pappu. He started by saying that mistakes are made by everyone but he won’t call it a mistake as it was really fun doing it.

Shakun was the assistant director in “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na”; he stated that they were in Alibaug and the director asked him to do that role as they didn’t have enough actors. He further said that he thought what this strange track “Pappu can’t dance” is, who would listen to it so he agreed to do the part but everyone saw the movie and the song as well.

He also revealed that he got a message from one of his school teachers who consoled him by writing that it is ok as people start like this. The teacher further wrote that though the role was small, one day people would surely recognize him. Shakun said that he had no idea as to how to tell his teacher that he was trying to become a director and not an actor.

“Gehraiyaan” director added that though he has grown his beard, still he hasn’t managed to get that image out of the minds of people and he feels that people won’t take him seriously ever.

There is no denying the fact that Shakun Batra was perfect for the role of Pappu, agree?
