The Board of Control for Cricket in India will send a relatively less experienced team to the Asian Games which are going to take place from September 28 to October 8 in view of the fact that the senior Indian team will play in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which will start from October 5.
The Asian Games will take place in China and all the cricket matches will be played at Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field. The BCCI is sending both men and women cricket teams in the Asian Games and both the teams have been able to make their place in quarter finals straightaway based on their ODI rankings.
The men’s cricket team will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad and it will comprise of talented and young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arshdeep Singh, Rahul Tripathi, etc. but one player who is supposed to get the most attention is Rinku Singh.
The KKR player has become a household name in India because of his superb performances in the IPL tournament. In the IPL 2023, he made people crazy when he smashed 5 consecutive sixes in the last over when his team needed 29 runs to win the match against Gujarat Titans.
In an interview, Rinku Singh (25 yrs) credited his knock of five sixes for his selection in the Indian team. He said that though people knew him earlier also yet after those five sixes, his popularity increased manifold and it really feels good. Rinku Singh scored 474 runs for KKR in 14 matches at an average of 59.25 and he is going to make his international debut in the Asian Games.
He further said that his family was also very happy after that knock as they had always told him that they want to see him playing for the country. Rinku said that all his family members danced when he got selected in the Indian squad.
Hopefully, the Indian cricket squad will win a gold medal in the Asian Games.
